Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club

Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club - NL vs West of Scotland CC on 15th May, 2016

SDCC began their Scottish cup in the second round with the visitt by West of Scotland CC, a team SDCC had beaten convincingly in a pre-season friendly a few weeks earlier.

With the feel in the changing room very positive, we wanted to end the few losses we have had with a good cup run.  Another excellent toss by the captain on the day, Jack meant SDCC would take first guard at the wicket.

An good opening performance with the ball by D. McNulty (2-18) and G. Smith (3-27) ripped the heart out of the top order as SDCC fell to 25-4 with Brayden (4), Eddie (12), Jack (2) and Ahklaq (3) all back in the hutch.  However, a good partnership between Matt (64) and Andy (28) allowed SDCC to claw their way back into a respectable position.  The partnership of 92 was broken by Farndale (1-40) to end Matt’s innings.  However, wickets began to fall relatively quickly with Andy, Ewan (4), Jan (9), Mike (1) and Michael (0) all falling and SDCC ending on 161 with ten overs of the innings still remaining.

Following an extended lunch due to rain, the new ball was thrown to Jan (1-42) and Matt (1-17 off 10 overs).  An excellent direct throw from mid wicket by Jamie brought the first wicket as Gibb (0) departed in the first over.  A tight opening spell yielded just 7 runs off Matt’s initial 6 over spell but without reward.  Jan was able to pick up Deshmukh (1).  Wickets were to fall to Jamie (1-25), Mike (1-22) and Matt but from 120-6, West of Scotland were able to put on a substantial partnership between McLachlan (87*) and Galloway (21).  However, it was too little too late when Brayden (1-5) got his chance with the ball.  West of Scotland were able to see themselves home with 3 wickets and nine overs to spare.

West of Scotland MoM: McLachlan for his unbeaten 87, an innings that saw West home.

SDCC MoM: Matt for his 64 and 1-17 off 10 overs.
