Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club - Grades vs Methlick CC on 13th May, 2017

The Grades team arrived at People's Park in thick fog to play Methlick CC.  The Captain successfully flicked the coin and decided to let Methlick have first use of the track. Jon and Edward opened and Edward struck first assisted by catches by Stuart at mid off and Jawad at cover. Both kept things tight without further success and the captain turned to Ray and himself.

After a couple of warm-up overs, Ray took his first official wicket for the club thanks to another sharp catch from Jawad before Jon took a great low catch to get rid of Methlick 's best batsman, Murphy.  Ray clean bowled the next 2 batsmen, Jon took advantage of a running mix-up for his first run out and then Ray took his place on the club honours board with 2 wickets in 2 balls to finish with 6-35. The final wicket fell courtesy of another J Grant run out to put the cap on a fine fielding display.

Methlick CC: 112 all out
.

Star of the day was Doreen for first suggesting, then making pots of soup which warmed up both teams for the second innings.

Eddie and Jawad opened and batted very positively running well and challenging the fielders. They got to 70 before Eddie fell for 41, 1 more than last week. Jawad went shortly after for 22 but Stuart, who batted really well and played some really nice shots in his 25no, and Farhad, who finished the game with a 6 into the new nets saw us home just as the sun came out.

A really good team performance and 2 wins out of 2 - perfect start.

Moment of the day - probably the toss - batting in fog wouldn't have been much fun but we took advantage.

Methlick MoM: S Murphy for his 31.
SDCC MoM: As Doreen has already won star prize for the soup, Ray with 6 wickets pips Jon's fielding.

Methlick CC: 112 (S Murphy 31, S Anderson 23; R Fourie 6-35, E Freeman 2-22)
SDCC:115-2 (E Steinson 41, S Lister 25no, J Akhtar 22, F Chowdhury 16no)
