Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club

Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club - Grades vs Fraserburgh CC on 17th June, 2017

The day did not start so well as Mrs Farhad being unwell meant a late call up for Andrew McLean. After a nice drive up to a sunny Fraserburgh, the Captain surprisingly won the toss and asked the opposition to bat.

We started with Edward and Euan who bowled tight spells despite the wind making things tricky. It was not however until the 24th over that we made a breakthrough with Jamie holding a catch at cow off Fraser. The captain then managed to entice 2 batsmen in 3 balls to miss straight ones but it was not until the introduction of Jamie Rodger in the 41st over that wickets started tumbling. Jamie bowled 3 overs and took a wicket in each finishing the pick of the bowlers with 3-17 as Fraserburgh finished on 178-6.

After a typically good tea from the home side, we needed a good start. We didn't get one as both Lambleys were bowled and Fraser run out by a direct hit before the total had reached 20. Adrian then joined Jawad and a combination of running well and taking good advantage of the scoring opportunities saw the score climb to 87 before Adrian was caught behind for 26. Thomas came in, hit first ball for 4 and hit 3 other boundaries before being bowled round his legs for 17. Jamie came to the crease and showed his intentions with a lovely cover drive for 4. Jawad passed 50 before being caught but Euan, playing a watchful innings and Jamie, playing with great freedom brought the scores level before Euan was bowled.

Our late replacement for Farhad promptly came to the crease and belted his first ball for 4 to give us the win.

A great team performance with contributions all round-up - and nice to get back to winning ways.

Fraserburgh MoM: L Bowie for his 59.
